The Princess and the Goblin - A Fantasy Novel by George McDonald

The Princess and the Goblin is a children's fantasy novel written by George MacDonald. It was first published in 1872 and is approximately 52,000 in length. A sequel called the Princess and the Curdie was published in 1883.

It tells the adventures of a young princess in a country castle surrounded by haunted woods and myserious tunnels in which live the goblins. Its main themes are courage and honour.
